Thank you for visiting Justell Vonk's website.
Justell Vonk is the artistic name of Aliona Leonova-Vendrovskaya, an artist currently based in Germany since 2019, having originally come from Ukraine.
Mostly self-taught, Justell education includes formal studies at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle and the Art Academy named after Surikov in Moscow. Her passion for art began in childhood, and from the very beginning, her artistic style has drawn significant influence from Slavonic folklore, nature, and dreams.
A practicing artist since 2011, Justell’s early works leaned heavily towards the darker aspects of folklore. In recent years, however, her focus has shifted towards exploring the inner human state and the psyche, inspired by her own dream imagery. Through her art, she challenges viewers to confront their subconscious fears and desires, encouraging them to find beauty even in shadows.
Justell Vonk’s works have been showcased in several international art exhibitions. She has also illustrated book covers, CD cover artwork, and contributed a series of illustrations for the horror episode “Uncanny Annie”, featured on Hulu.
While black ink was her primary medium for many years, she now primarily works with graphite and oil, exploring new techniques to expand her artistic voice.
Her works are represented by The Dark Art Emporium, Long Beach, California.
